I bought my Sleep Number bed a few years ago and honestly, I loved it… until the day I didn’t. When I finally called about a warranty issue, the rep told me I was past the point where anything would be covered for free. Instead, I’d have to pay a pro-rated portion of the replacement cost.
I always thought these beds had a 25-year warranty. Now their site says 15 years. Maybe I misunderstood, maybe the rep misspoke—but either way, it was a huge letdown.
My issue was a slow leak on the left side. The replacement cost? Pretty steep. They explained that the price was pro-rated, and at first I was willing to accept that. I mean, accidents do happen—someone could accidentally puncture their mattress, right? So I asked how much it would be. I’m only in year three of owning this bed, and I’m pretty sure she said it would be around $140 shipped.
Now $140 isn’t outrageous by itself… but the math behind that pro-rate? After three years, on what was supposed to be a 25-year warranty, that came out to basically 30% per year after the first year, plus another 5% every year after that. For what I paid, that felt excessive.
So instead of shelling out even more money, I decided to find another way. I built a small program to deal with the issue—and it worked incredibly well. After reading tons of other people’s stories (some good, some bad, some downright ridiculous), I realized others might appreciate the solution too. That’s why I put this site together: to share my experience with my Sleep Number i10 Queen bed, which cost me $4,850.89.
Could be better. Could be worse.
